Electrical Subpanel Installation

My main electrical panel was full when I bought my house, so before construction of the airplane began, I needed to install a subpanel. Warning - don't do electrical work yourself unless you know what you're doing. It can kill you!

With that being said, I elected to install a main lug type panel with a 60 amp breaker feed from the main panel. I used 6-3 with ground for the feed. I then wired up a 220 outlet for my compressor and 4 GFI outlets around the shop in convenient locations.

I had pulled a permit on the panel and outlets with the city, but I was concerned the inspector would give me trouble because I'm not a licensed electrician. I am familiar with the code that applies though, and he signed me off after we talked shop for a while.

In addition, I removed the 2 cheap garage lights that came with the house and installed 6 fluorescent lights overhead.

The finished subpanel. I hate working behind finished walls!
