OCT 07 - Completed Horizontal
Stabilizer - 6 Hours
After riveting the HS-707 to the top and bottom of the skin, I then riveted the
front spar to the skins by reaching into the skins with the bucking bar. If you
don't read anything else in this update, I have one recommendation to make: keep
the blue plastic on the exterior of the skins at least until you're done riveting.
You will see in my pictures that my skins got somewhat scratched up during the cleaning/priming/riveting
process. Nothing a little paint won't hide, for sure, but why not have scratch-free
skins if you can help it? The aluminum actually scratches very easy.

A picture of the right side skin. I did put a few smilies in the skins, but nothing
that won't come out with some filler.
Once the internal components of the Horizontal Stab are riveted using the rivet
gun / bucking bar, you insert the rear HS Spar and complete the rest of the rivets
using the squeezer.

All rivets that need to be shot and bucked are complete.

Using the squeezer to set the rivets on the edges was much easier.
